Good coffee all day
The machine does not knock off at eleven. Coffee and tea whenever you walk in, right through to close.

Sit under the umbrellas with a coffee and a pie, then walk out with gourmet cheese, artisan bread and a pot plant. Two minutes off the Hume, and worth pulling over for.
When the door is open
Four days a week, and that is deliberate. We are shut Monday and Tuesday, so check before you make the drive. Breakfast runs until 10am on every day we are open.
Dine in, takeaway and outdoor seating.
Two shops, one door
Jackson's is a local produce store supplying local and regional produce, including organic produce, and it is also a proper cafe. The counter, the coffee machine and the shelves all live in the same room on Cowslip Street, which is why people tend to arrive for a flat white and leave carrying a bag.
Sit in the sunny covered courtyard, take a table out on the street, or come inside and eat surrounded by Violet Town's own artworks. The museum is out the back and there is a gallery next door, so it is easy to make an hour of it.

The cafe
What is written on the board out the front is what you get inside. No long menu of things nobody orders, just food made here and served while the shop is open.
The machine does not knock off at eleven. Coffee and tea whenever you walk in, right through to close.
Served daily while the shop is open, so there is no rush to beat a nine o'clock cut off.
Made here rather than delivered in a box, which is why the counter looks different depending on the day.
Pies, sausage rolls and sweets from the cabinet, plated with salad if you are sitting in.
Blended fresh, using the same fruit and veg that sits on the shelves out the front.
Toasties, salads and the rest of the day menu, for eating in or taking away.

Worth the detour
“I was honestly shocked by how good it was. The sausage roll didn't taste like a typical one at all — the meat inside was tender and juicy, and the pastry was perfectly crisp and buttery. It was easily the best sausage roll I've ever had. I'm already planning to visit this café again on the weekend, even if it means driving 2.5 hours from Melbourne. Totally worth it.”

The produce store
The shelves run from fruit and veg through to the sort of browsing that makes a present easy. Everything below is stocked in store.

Inside
A relaxing time out for locals and visitors alike, in their own words. Pull up at the window bar and watch Cowslip Street go by, or take a table and stay a while.
What people say
“A friendly and efficient setting, great quality food and coffee with cold drinks, produce and gift ware to purchase if you wish. A terrific find. Seating inside and out. Thank u.”
“A gorgeous cafe on the Main Street of Violet Town! Super yummy food, quick service & plenty of seating both inside and outside. The staff were all so lovely”
“We stopped in to get some breakfast on the drive from Melbourne to NSW and after six days in Melbourne the coffee at Jackson's was miles better than anything we'd had in the city! The hot chocolate was excellent too and breakfast options were fab. They also have a great little gift store section with beautiful candles, jewellery, and food. It's only 2 minutes off the highway and so we'll definitely be back.”
